Very young hitter with a mature approach that belies his age and athleticisim that belies his build.
Med. frame square build. Short arms. Thick. Heavy lower 1/2. Nearing Phys. maturity although
body has improved since high school. Built like Scott Hatteberg. Simple, quiet swing. Sets up
open with hds high and still bat. Smooth load w/small bat wrap puts him in optimal position to
release hds and let avg to plus batspd go. Stays inside ball well and gets around on best FB's. Gd
rythm and excellent hd path. No holes when he stays with approach and doesn't try to jerk balls.
Makes good contact and ball jumps off bat. Classic low ball LHH. Flashes plus raw power
already and should easily play in games down line. Chance to have near excellent plate discipline.
Confident hitter who knows zone better than umpires and makes it be known. Quality swings
thru entire AB but knows when to really let hds go. Occ. gets too pull happy, needs to know HR
will come with strength. Slow out of box, runs better under way. Much more athletic than he
looks. Arm strength returning, flashes plus on occ. Moves comfort. around 1B bag considering
how little he has played. Hds are playable and range allows him to get to everything he is
supposed to. Athletic enuf to play on either corner as well as LF if need be. Value is behind plate
with aptitude and improved arm strength. Could be solid avg defensively behind plate, a little
better @ 1B. Hard to remember he is 19 yrs old @ times. Needs to go easier on himself and not
be so hotheaded. Visibly upset with every poor swing in BP. Talented enuf to let game come to
him. As a 1B he is an avg offensive player for me providing better than avg avg and avg to slightly
below power for 1B. If he catches he has a chance to be very special. Fringe All Star. Should be
moved as quick as defensive experimenting will alow, bat should run into few speed bumps.
