2004 Report

2005 Update:
Righty who has gone to knuckleball almost exclusively. Has added some weight to large frame.
Filled out nicely. Deliv. manages to stay relativ. consis. as he switches back and forth between a
knuckleballer and FB. Hides ball ok in back, only elbow is visible. Backside releases well, effort
and head jerk w/FB. Lots of arms and legs. Occ. loses deliv. on slow knuckle ball. Slight crossfire
deliv. A/A varies depending on type of pitch. Notic. shorter circle w/knuckle. Slot floats around as
well. More FB than typ. gimmick pitcher. Consis. up in zone, not a ton of strikes or feel. Tries to
miss bats w/it. Plays up when he mixes well btwn FB and knuckles. Gd downhill plane with small
cut. Two diff. types of knuckles. Soft one is better of two. Keeps it low. Nasty floater @ soft
(70-71) velo. @ higher velo it's more of a backed off SL with tiny cut. Hard one is thrown in low
80's and although he displays better armspd there's not as much confusion to it. Ability to work
knuckle ball both ways. Neither one is esp. filthy, hitters and catchers don't seem intimidated.
Threw a SL once or twice. Approach is wrong, tries to K guys w/FB and pitches away away
w/knuckle. If he's not hitting spots he's in trouble. @ his best he can throw low knucklers and get
GB's. Control may improve a bit but he's never going to be a real strike thrower. Gives up too
many hits for gimmick. AA org. arm who should be pushed.
