Comments:
Righty w/some feel to pitch, lacks true outpitch. Med.-Large frame with some evenly spread out
thickness. Across body deliv. has some lower 1/2 restriction and it looks like there is some in his
shoulder as well but he has not had any arm problems to date. Direction ok in deliv but with hip
tuck away from plate he ends up staying closed entire time. Not much release with back side
despite some early drift in deliv. . Cuts off his finish out front. Arm works well in back, moves hd
smooth out of his glove. Stays flexed entire time and is visible out behind his back. Flappy glove
pulls some attention away from arm. FB is middle towards his armside, mostly as a result of
cutting it off out front inhibits him from working to both sides of plate. Sneaky quick. Gd sink as
he looks to turn over both two and four seam. Leaves too much up in zone. Breaking ball is a work
in progress. Big side sweeper with mostly horiz. bend. Lacks true vert. break of CV and snappy
cut of SL. Velo inconsis. from outing to outing. Too slurvy thru entire velo spectrum. Throws it
for strikes but gd hitters will sit on it. Can work CH to both sides of plate with movement either
way. Sharp cut CH is best of offspd offerings. Below avg command hurts strength of pitch. Mixes
pitches well and is smart thinker on mound. Doesn't miss enuf bats to buy into below avg stuff
and lack of strikeout pitch. Contact can be very loud. HR totals confirm idea that he may not have
enuf FB to pitch up in zone like he does. If he can develop a breaking ball he may have a shot. His
ability to throw strikes should allow him to pitch in a AA bullpen where his velo may see a bit of
a spike. Should prob. spend next yr back in Cal League.
