2004 Report

2005 Update:
Athletic player who has got stronger. Moved from behind plate, despite strength gains body
would wear down if he caught every day. Med. build looks to be full grown. Gd set of forearms
on him-don't know why he wears so much body armour. Effort to game. Swing more
complicated than last yr. Rough load lays bat off in back which creates a long hd path to the
ball. . Drifts out early. Below avg batspd @ best makes it hard for him to catch up to avg FB.
Not a very gd swing. Hard to sq. ball up with consis. Struggles to stay back against deceptive
offspd offerings and expands zone too much. Mediocre (35) raw power will be hard pressed to
play due to suspect plate discipline. Not too many K's-swings early in count and puts bat on
ball. Below avg runner who gives a gd 90 every time. Throwing better than last yr. Painful and
stiff max effort A/A hurts his Acc. will flash a 5 arm on occ. but is scattershot @ that effort
level. Has regressed defensively as he has been forced to learn two new positions @ pro level.
Avg range but lacks instincts and consis to play up middle. Hds BA @ best. Slow rxn's off bat
hurt him @ 3B. Most polished behind plate but lacks physicality to handle rigors. Still moves
very well and is esp. flexible. Defensively he is best suited for 3B but no matter what way you
look at it he doesn't profile @ all there. Ability to play multiple positions and put ball in play
should allow him to be a solid AAA player but lack of standout tool will make it diff. to get
him to next level. Should be ready for AA next yr.
