Righty who looks to be a shell of his old self. Strong mature build. Athletic build. Works from
consis. 3/4 slot. Med. windup, hands over head with small rock back, No effort. Control issues
very worrisome when you consider how refined he is mechanically. FB is below avg right now,
consis. gets on side of FB and lets it squirt away from him. Still has his good FB inside of him but
is very tentative to let it go. FB flat and straight. Most 2 seams were 84-85. No idea where FB is
going, struggled all night to throw strikes, let alone locate anywhere within the zone. Looks to be
tentative to go inside @ all with FB. SL not where it's supposed to be. While velo is avg it's more
of a soft cutter, it appears he is trying to throw it hard and is simply throwing thru any break and
is tentative to let it go for fear of where it may end up. Bite should come back as he sorts out his
control issues. CH is generic. Solid straight sink with good arm spd. His bout with serious control
issues is very scary and creates a new set of expecations for him. I don't see him getting all the
way back to where he was and the control will remain an issue but he may still have a shot @
working in middle relief out of a big league pen, for now he needs to be taken slowly and put in
situations where he can succeed.
