CF with some pop and gd baseball instincts. Med. build. Very strong. Doesn't move around
with a tremendous amount of grace. Built like Jim Edmonds. Tale of two swings-new one is
better. Early in year he was upright and there was more movement early . More spread out
now. Balanced pre cocked swing.Tightly wound and coiled set up w/hds @ head level. Very gd
timing with small hitch down and back up with hds. Stays inside ball very well. Bit of a lift and
separate guy. Below avg BS. There is not a ton of force after contact, he gets to ball quick but
kind of stops abruptly thru ball. Finish is high though which gives him some lift if he can stay
in swing entire time. Swings and misses way too much. Can't hit a tight breaking ball. Pretty
lofty K totals. Looks like he doesn't see ball. New swing seems to have simplified things a bit
and should reduce K's but it will always be an issue as he moves up. Power is a bit limited, ball
doesn't jump off bat, power seems forced but he should be gd for 11-15HR as he moves up.
Avg defender who plays above his tools. Gd angles and instincts in CF. Below avg speed and
range hurts him. Dives and lays out (and makes plays) on lots of plays that speedier players
don't leave their feet on. Makes some incredible plays. Below avg yet accurate arm. Grinder
approach to game but he can play and get it done. Ability to play CF should keep him around
for a while. Lack of plate discipline prob. makes him a 4 hitter @ best and power numbers
should settle down with more advanced arms. Is a AAA player who I would imagine will get a
cup of coffee with someone. Should head to AA next yr to see if new swing continues to yield
positive results.
