Comments:
LHH catcher short across board on tools. Phys. mature, slightly heavy build. Resembles Scott
Hatteberg. Open stance. Sets up pre loaded out of a crouch with hands upright, away from body.
Steep swing plane with mediocre BS produces lots of top spin, soft pop ups and rolled over
ground balls. Hooks. Approach is dead pull, very few meaningful swings directed towards the
opposite field. No chance with plus stuff anywhere on the plate. Especially vulnerable to
anything low and away, rolls over and beats it into the ground. Can force bat head thru on below
avg stuff. Contact soft and rarely square. Shows mediocre raw power, plays near poor in games.
Looks as if he may have some hand injury that has sapped his strength. Bizarre amount of sky
high INF pop ups. Catcher speed. Below avg arm strength gets to bag but has no carry thru it.
Release slow. Hands stiff and lateral agility not good. Hands not good enuf to move to 3B, bat
won't play there anyways. Offensive approach won't give him much of a shot to succeed at the
plate @ AA. Not worth keeping around as a backup catcher as work behind plate is far from
noteworthy. Should get a shot @ AA next year, No further. No Prospect.
