Bad bodied C. Old for league. Med. wide frame, fire hydrant build. Thick chest and stomach,
heavy rear. Lifeless body. Will get heavier and heavier. Works out of near full crouch with bat
resting on shoulder. Load straight down with hands. Gets long to the ball. Classic aluminum bat
stroke, hands get out away from body and can put ball into gap if extended. No chance with
anything hard on middle 1/2. Below avg batspd. Dead lower half, armsy. Good knowledge of zone
but biggest offensive issue is inability to see ball (specif. offspd) out of hand which leads to early
commits. Below avg raw plays WBA in games. Base clogger. Flexible and loose behind the plate,
sets up and receives well. Feet don't work any better behind plate than down lines. Near poor arm
strength but a quick transfer helps a bit. Throws sink and tail, as they inherently do if they are
thrown with the large amount of arc. Pitchers love throwing to him and the game he calls despite
his shortcomings, he calls an excellent game. Plays some 1B but any vlaue he would have to an org.
would be in shepherding young arms. Age is an issue already, offensive issues will be more
obvious against better competition. See him prob. playing 35-40 games next year in AA. Grades
out as an NP but role already looks like that of an org. player.
