Comments:
Loose lefty with serious FB and suspect offspd. Long lean frame. Narrow up top and @
midsection. Uniform hangs off him. Built similar to Casey Fossum. Deliv. has some inconsis. to it
that prevents him from really locating like you would want. Drifts a bit early as he sits up on top
of rubber. Body moves in a crescent moon like fashion from 1st to 3rd but he seems to be in
control of it. Backside releases a bit lazy @ times but when he reaches back it comes thru fully.
Some slight restriction in his shoulder and a bit of late effort @ release. Very quick arm. Wraps a
bit with wrist out of glove. Lively FB looks all of 93-94. Occ. cut. Movement doesn't seem
intentional, has some release point inconsis. that coupled with his armspd and wrist snap creates
some sink and R/L movement. Attacks middle of plate w/FB and generally works down in zone so
long as he avoids cutting off his finish and getting lazy with his hips. Excellent reach back-Has 94
in his pocket all night out of windup. Sits @ 92 early, 90-91 as game progresses. Breaking ball is a
hard slurve. Ways away, occ throws snappy two plane CV w/tilt but few and far btwn. Has
armspd and velo for power CV but lacks feel and consis. release to really develop into the kind of
offering you would hope for. Overthrows too much, needs to decide what he wants it to be. Could
back off and have avg velo on a CV or step on it and turn it into true SL. Despite issues he throws
it with loads of confidence @ anytime in count. CH has a chance to be avg. Hard horiz fade,
minimal sink. Command needs work. Threw a couple nice ones that he started well in to RHH and
jerked them back over the plate. Armspd notic. off w/CH from side, will need to iron that out if he
wants to have some deception with pitch. Generally works from behind too much which doesn't
put him in counts where he can really be aggressive and go after corners like he is capable of,
forced to work towards middle of plate. Tempo orriented pitcher who works very quick-creates
some problems if he gets too amped up and repeating deliv. becomes an issue. Pitches away from
FB more than most kids in High A do which bodes well for him down line if secondary stuff
catches up as he'll already have exp. using it. Hitters have a hard time sq. FB up. Pause for me
comes with lack of true breaking ball and consis. offspd pitch. Having a lot of success because
hitters simply don't see this kind of velo from the left side too often @ A ball level. There is some
P/Abil. Chance to become a #5 guy. Don't see him spending all of next yr in High A.
