Deceptive righty strike thrower. Large frame. Lean and lanky build. Resembles Jake Peavy.
Pinwheel deliv. Hds lift over head, everything releases towards plate w/ease despite ft drag. Leg
swings way out as he lifts leg up. Body moves a tick towards LH box but nothing that inhibits his
abil. to throw to either side of plate. Keeps weight back well from side. Slow arm works from
various slots. Visible out of glove. From hand break arm swings from 3B back towards 1B. Hitters
uncomft. in box. Great tempo. Sneaky FB is located with ease around zone. Sounds hard and
plays up with funk, some bad swings on 86MPH. Agg. Hittable if he makes mistakes, doesn't
make too many. Soft sinker @ 84-85 dives to armside. 4 seam is straight but gd angle. Gets first
pitch FB over all night. Solid command of FB right now with chance for plus. Secondary pitches
WBA right now but ability to locate over plate helps him set up his FB. Calls breaking ball CV
btwn inn. and in early goings it shows off a 10-4 break, as he loosens it turns into more of a soft
but true SL. Towards end of night as he tires it turns back into CV. Occ. throws thru it. Too
inconsis. Needs to decide what he wants to throw and stick with it. Very few CH. Minimal feel,
gets under it and leaves up in zone. Long A/A w/CH. Misses lots of bats w/FB. Contact very soft.
Ability to throw quality strikes with pot. avg FB gives him value. Lack of secondary pitches
prob. force him to bullpen. Gets a bit timid with three ball counts, nothing but FB towards center
of plate. Afraid of walks? Can really pitch. Value for me is as long man @ ML level. May as well
be pushed quick with success he is having.
