Comments:
LH power hitter with chance to be plus defender. Strong body is notic. more cut than early.
High hips. Stacked upper body. Strong wrists and arms. Lwr have much leaner than beg. of yr.
Body and swing similar to young Larry Walker. Tightly wound setup. Open stance with extra
high hds @ helmet level with high back elbow. Wide ft, with slightly pinched knees. Very steep
swing path down to ball and then pulls it up creating excel. lift.. Generates plus batspd and
leverages ball well dropping bat hard on ball. Active wrists. Sees and tracks ball well. Centers
ball well in BP and as long as he stays back and avoids bailing and pulling everything, he can do
it in games. Light tower power if he connects. Has strength to drive ball out to all parts of
ballpark-if he wants to. Got in trouble early as batspd was slow to warm up and what at the
time was a dead pull approach. Can look very bad on swings and misses and batspd takes
nights off. K totals are a concern but his control of zone has improved a ton over course of yr.
Below avg runner. Chance to be plus defender and maybe a bit more down line, def. has tools.
Very gd arm strength allows him to throw from his heels and show off excel. carry thru bag.
Soft sure hds bring hard hit balls in with ease and he moves with gd body control coming in on
balls to field and throw in one smooth motion. Gd angles, sits behind ball well and moves ft
thru play well. Moves ok to both sides. Should end up very similar to Eric Chavez with an avg
in the .270-.285 range and capable of a tick over 30HR/yr while playing near gold glove caliber
defense. Should move up to AA next yr.
