Comments:
Refined sinker SL lefty. Thick build esp. in hips and rear. No projection left in body. Compact
arm action in back, smooth. Comes set open over rubber, throws across body which allows him
to hide ball well in back but also puts stress on shoulder as he is clearly landing outside of his
bodywidth. Doesn't land very softly but is consis. and is able to repeat delivery well. Lacks
consis. with FB from a velo perspective. Will sit 88-90 one outing and 84-86 the next. Durable
build and repeatable deliv. confuses issue as you wouldn't anticipate having those issues. As velo
goes up, life suffers, Good sink and run in the 85-87 range but it starts to flatten and straighten
out on him @ 88+. Occ. will release late and miss well low. With the angle he is coming from it's
hard for him to go hard in on a RHH. SL is best pitch, projects as avg with a notch better
command that should come. Solid velo with good sharp bite. Consis. action from outing to outing,
much more than with FB. CV is get me over offering. Slurvy depth, inconsis. velo. Anywhere
from high 60's to mid 70's with it. Flat and soft. CH is mediocre for me, doesn't show much
confidence with it and inconsis. with velo comes into play here as some nights he will be 84-85
with FB and 78-80 with CH. Biggest issue will be consis. bringing quality FB to the table every
night. I see him starting next year back in the Cal League maybe in a starting role which he excelled
in late in year. His long term role for me is long relief @ AAA level although he's a guy who could
fill in for a short period of time as a lefty specialist in an emergency role @ ML level, don't see
extended stay though.
