Older righty with a good feel. XL narrow frame, not a lot of muscle, nor room for a whole lot
more. Is what he is physically. Arm never completes circle in back, breaks hands down and back
and then slings it from his hip. Lower 1/2 is dead forcing arm to do lots of work to get thru.
Throws across body a bit but inside hips so prob. okay. Everything has a bump in it. Moves in
and out with FB and varies slot anywhere from a straight 3/4 all the way down to a bit below
side. Good feel for diff. slot and control not bad considering he hasn't been doing it much. Will be
fulltime side slinger next year in AA so command may jump a tick as he becomes more and more
comfortable but prob. will still be fringy. Will miss bats from side slot with sinking FB. FB
elevates on occ. loc. of FB within strike zone will need to get better to be effective out of pen @
higher levels. Works @ 84-86, a notch lower when he drops down. CH has some solid arm side
fade to it, better from higher slot than out @ the side. CV is slurvy, hard to throw a true CV from
low 3/4 slot that he seems to throw it from. Prob. should scrap curve from side and focus on
CH/SL combo. SL has frisbee potential from side slot. When thrown from higher slot it's a flat
horizontal breaking spinner. Better depth and sweep from nine o'clock. He's a AAA guy for me as
the slot and feel make him an interesting addition to a staff, he is not going to have the plus (to
plus plus) command that a side guy needs to have to be effective at the big league level. Given he
will be 25 next year he should be pushed quickly to see how far his new style will take him.
